I've found that if you push down on the trunk lid very firmly eventually the latch settles in and will open with the pull lever next to the drivers seat. Just a Band Aid solution, not an actual fix. With a credit card, or something like it, popsicle stick, nail file, etc, insert it at the side of the door that opens, not the hinged side. Install the cargo net hooks and snug them. I am aware of the trunk lock feature that prevents access to the trunk unless you have a key.
