The vehicle only has 33,800 miles on it, but the time has expired for the factory warranty. The owner had to keep the foot on the brake to keep it from rolling back. This was telling me it was somewhere in the transfer case. Within 2 days the problem re-occurred. Mechanic could not rebuild the transmission had to be replaced. I hope that Ford recalls the transmissions for these trucks and reimburses me for the 3,800 dollars I have had to pay koons Ford to get a new one.
I have used it as a recreational vehicle and it only has 58,914 miles and the transmission has broken. Transmission will not hold vehicle in place! The vehicle was returned to the dealer and they stated that the alternator failed. The vehicle has not been diagnosed by the dealer. The truck then developed a stall like it was low and gas and blew black smoke on cold starts and take-offs. When the truck was first purchased, the owner noticed when going up a hill it stopped and rolled. We will be returning the truck to the dealer tomorrow and getting our 2003 Expedition back, which has had several problems fixed under warranty, and were having problems with it again, causing us to trade it in. Afterwards, the vehicle would only move forward.
This occurs approximately every fifteen miles or so. Now at 82000 miles the transmission is slipping badly. My dad went to inspect the situation and they only showed him water in a cup he didnt see and drained from the transmission. The owner had to pull over. This happened for about 10 minutes until I could get off the expressway, and exit into a gas station parking lot. The noise went away after I merged onto a highway.
It was replaced and have had not further trouble in that area. The truck started to buck as if it was going in and out of gear. F-150 Heritage model, Transmission model: 4R70W. Additional info: truck has 4. Also, when the vehicle is in 4 wheel drive, the steering wheel is very difficult to turn. Obviously it wasnt the cats. I read all the complaints online about this problem and it sounds like Ford knows there is a problem, then they should be responsible to recall it.
Last for about 5 second until something fall to place like gears in a transmission. There are 21 choices for the 2004 Ford F-150 Transmission Assembly!!! Took it to aamco and ran diagnostics. Also, my automatic transmission is slipping for the second time. Transmission requires rebuild at 54000. After about the 5th time this happened I took vehicle to the Ford dealership, and they could not duplicate the problem, so nothing was done.
Service bulletin says normal and to not repair, yet my issue is not intermittent and is a significantly noticeable and uncomfortable jerk in the driveline that is definitely not normal performance from any transmission aware of without a very aggressive shift kit installed and a plethora of horsepower. It started one time about three months ago and quickly went to the Ford shop for repair. The truck has never been exposed to water other than what rain gathered on the road. Now 1 year later my tranny has gone out. The dealer replaced the gear position indicator; however, the vehicle would not start after the repair was made. I tried factory buyback with Fords board but they seem to think it is fixed, I have ask them to drive the truck again like the dealership did to verify the vibrations. Upon taking the truck to the dealer, it was determined that the throttle body was defective, and needed replacing.
We are also a power seller on Ebay and have excellent feed back. Truck was still under warranty. After diagnosis from the dealership , it turns out that the od retainer clip went out ,took out my 2nd gear and cracked the housing. My mile are commuting miles. The contact had to recharge the battery in order to start the vehicle. Come and get the car of your dreams.
The contact attempted to place the vehicle into reverse and heard a loud noise. Our truck was purchased new but has been in the shop repeatedly for brake problems 7 times , tire problems 2 times , rear end 2 times , broken drive shaft 2 times , electrical 1 time , electrical is starting to have problems now too. I waited 2 days, and then drove the truck to the dealership 40 minutes away without any problems. Vehicle has a non-serviceable transmission cooler. An associate of mine who owns a 2005 F-150 with the exact same transmission experienced the same problem and recently had the transmission replaced under warranty. He made several suggestions to the dealership. Made notes and sent to shop foreman as communication of my concern about the lack of paperwork and record, and the lack of service.
