The Movie: I have to start out by saying that I never really watched Farscape when it was on the air despite being a big sci-fi buff and a fan of the Jim Henson Company. A very brief season summary and general list of bonus features is on the back cover of each season. As much as I like Farscape, I'm not going to buy upconverted stuff. The water world becomes a battleground between the Peacekeepers and the Scarrans, and Moya is caught in the. I'm left with a bad taste in my mouth. This isn't a bad idea in the abstract, for a film that's wrapping things up. It beggars belief that masters can be lost in this day and age though.
Seems a new release of The Peacekeeper Wars is being released in May, not much info on Amazon. Pretty much what Fox did with the Firefly blu rays. Either way, I'll probably buy it at some point, but I might find myself waiting for Amazon to put it on one of their one-day sales if the picture quality is just so-so before buying it. It made him quite overbearing and you had to wonder what Claudia Black as Aeryn Sun saw in him beyond his good looks. The universe is once again at war with the Peacekeepers fighting the Scarrans as Scorpius is still hunting Crichton for his hidden knowledge.
Like Moya herself, this package contains amazing surprises including hours of bonus materials, making-of featurettes, commentaries, interviews, deleted scenes and much more. Black is good in her role as a retired genetically engineered warrior. By the time Staleek and Crichton return to the Scarran Decimator, he appears convinced and even receptive, under the subtle influence of the Eidelon Hierarch, to seeking an end to war with the Peacekeepers. In season four, we saw both John Crichton and Aeryn Sun crystallised and thanks their colleague Rygel, he manages to set them free from their prison but the universe is now a very different place. In the end I have to say I found this 30 minute documentary to almost be more entertaining that the film itself. He finds himself in the middle of a prison break, surrounded by hostile aliens, soaring through space inside a glorious living space ship called Moya. The Farscape crew undoubtedly wanted to bid their characters farewell, but doing it like this on-camera just doesn't work, at least not when the previous three hours' worth of storytelling have been as trite and shallow as this.
